Lisa Robinson has worked with the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte for 24 years, 18 of which have been with Ontario Works. Today, Lisa was awarded the first ever Gabrielle Kakegamic Memorial Award, which will be presented annually to an Ontario Native Welfare Administrators’ Association member community support staff or case worker who has been of long-service to their community in the area of social assistance. Income Assistance Case workers and support staff who are members of an ONWAA community; A member of an Ontario First Nation community; Has demonstrated long-service to their community; and or Advocacy and experience in the area of social assistance and has a willingness to mentor others in the field are eligible for the award.
