At risk of homelessness means, that the individual or family is experiencing ONE of the following: 1. Paying 50% or more of their monthly income for their current dwelling. 2. Has insufficient resources immediately available to attain housing stability 3. Experiencing one or more of the following: i. Has moved frequently because of economic reasons. ii. Is living in the home of another because of economic hardship. iii. Has been notified that their right to occupy their current housing or living situation will be terminated. iv. Is living in a hotel or motel. v. Is living in severely overcrowded housing. vi. Otherwise lives in housing that has characteristics associated with instability and an increased risk of homelessness. This will include applicants with documented accessibility issues.
The Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte uses the National Occupancy Standard to define overcrowding, which uses a maximum of two individuals per bedroom. Note: A single member of the household, over the age of eighteen (18), needs to have a separate bedroom.
