The Community Services Department (formerly Nation Building) houses several units with the purpose of supporting the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte through avenues such as:

  • Communications
  • Consultation
  • Lands
  • Membership
  • Policy
  • Research
  • Employment and Training
  • Economic Development

Community Services ensures that MBQ is able to deliver communications, messaging, and information from MBQ Administration and Tyendinaga Mohawk Council.  The department carries out consultation activities to engage, inform, and promote dialogue within the community.  Policy development in various areas and issues is a key component to provide consistency and establish processes within MBQ Administration.

Community Services also performs research to generate a historical understanding of the area and its peoples, and to support MBQ’s land claims.  The Lands Unit delivers land transfer-related services in the Territory.  Membership oversees the maintenance of MBQ membership lists and registration for Status Cards. Employment and Training and Economic Development work towards enhancing employability skills and building sustainable business ventures within the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
