A special meeting of the Tyendinaga Mohawk Council was held on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. via Microsoft Team Conferencing.
Present: Chief R. Donald Maracle attending another call.
Councilors: Carl E. (Ted) Maracle, Lynda Leween, Josh Hill and
Kelly Maracle
Staff: David Souliere, CAO; Angela Maracle, Senior Director of Operations; Shelley Bowden, Executive Administrative Assistant and Recording Secretary to Council; Susan Barberstock, Director of Community Wellbeing; Heather Green, Director of Education; Nicole Pickard, Daycare Manager; Brittany Brant, Nurse in Charge;
Kathleen Manderville, Federal Director of Education joined to discuss her retirement and the need to have someone from MBQ sit on the interview process.
MOTION #1: Moved by Kelly Maracle, seconded by Lynda Leween to approve Councillor josh Hill be the MBQ representative on the interview process for the Federal Director of Education.
Carried.
Everyone left. Council continued the meeting.
MOTION #2: Moved by Kelly Maracle, seconded by Lynda Leween to recess for a Mohawk Golf Board of Directors meeting. (1:38 p.m.)
Carried.
Reconvened at 2:40 p.m.
Kelly Maracle absent due to another call.
MOTION #3: Moved by Lynda Leween, seconded by Carl E. (Ted) Maracle that WHEREAS The Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte has purchased the Briar Fox Golf and Country Club located in Marysville, Ontario.
AND WHEREAS The Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte has purchased the land of the golf course using a wholly owned bare trust corporation (2821066 Ontario Inc.).
AND WHEREAS The Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte desires to refinance this land purchase with the Bank of Montreal.
AND WHEREAS The Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte desires to replace the existing golf cart fleet with new updated golf carts by borrowing the required funds with the Bank of Montreal to loan to the Mohawk Golf Course Limited Partnership.
NOW THEREFORE, The Tyendinaga Mohawk Council hereby agrees to borrow $1,400,000.00 from the Bank of Montreal at a fixed interest rate of 2.28% for a 5-year term with a 20-year amortization.
