The purpose of the Mohawk Fire Department is to provide Fire Protection and Prevention to the community of Tyendinaga.
Services
The Fire department consists of 25 volunteers and 1 full time Fire Chief.
The Fire Department is Water Tanker Shuttle Accredited and operates the following equipment:
- 1999 1050 gpm pumper,
- 1500 gal pumper/tanker,
- 2500 gal tanker,
- 19’ boat,
- as well as necessary equipment that provides a variety of services
The firefighters are trained to provide fire suppression, water and ice rescue, search and rescue, emergency medical response, vehicle extrication, as well as a variety of other calls that arise in the community.
The Fire Department is also involved in Fire inspections, tours and many other prevention activities that are requested from time to time.
