The purpose of the Mohawk Fire Department is to provide fire protection and prevention to the community of Tyendinaga.
Services
The Fire department consists of 25 volunteers and 1 full-time fire chief.
The department is Water Tanker Shuttle Accredited and operates the following equipment:
- 1999 1050 gpm pumper
- 1500 gallon pumper/tanker
- 2500 gallon tanker
- 19’ boat
- necessary equipment that provides a variety of services
The firefighters are trained to provide fire suppression, water and ice rescue, search and rescue, emergency medical response, vehicle extrication as well as respond to a variety of other calls that arise in the community.
The Fire Department is also involved in Fire inspections, tours and many other prevention activities that are requested from time to time.
