Half Load Restriction in Effect Starting Monday, February 23, 2026
Please be advised that starting Monday, February 23, 2026, a half load restriction will be in effect for all roads in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. We appreciate your co-operation and understanding. Nyá:wen.
Background
The Roads Department ensures the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all MBQ road networks on Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
Overview
The Roads Department is responsible for maintaining 12.76 km of gravel, 27.66 km of paved and 39.57 km of surface treated roads.
MBQ’s total road network equates 79.99 km
The Roads Department also completes maintenance on 9 bridge structures throughout the Territory.
Operation and maintenance include:
- Repair and/or replace road signs, repair guide rails, dust control
- Complete new culvert installations
- Apply gravel to roads and shoulders as required
- Ditching
- Snow plowing in the winter season
- Apply sand and salt to roads
- Minor road reconstruction, grading, clean bridges
- Repair soft spots
