for Creating Kanyen’kéha Speakers, 2026
Kenhtè:ke Community Plan to Create Speakers
In 2024, MBQ received funding from First Nations Confederacy of Cultural Education Centres (FNCCEC) to work collaboratively with Tsi Tyonnheht Onkwawenna (TTO) for the project ‘Kenhtè:ke Community Plan for Creating Kanyen’kéha Speakers.’
Building on past work and through various community engagement sessions, O’nahkwi:yo Kelly Maracle and Teyonehrahtawénrye Ashley Maracle created working documents to help guide our language revitalization efforts. These extensive reports include community-led goals, strategies actions and indicators for Kanyen’kéha (Mohawk language) in Kenhtè:ke.
Including an extensive report of quoted community voices, the reports are a reflection of the time, dedication and passion for the language held by this community.
