We have been notified that there is some concern regarding the Gas Tax Exemption cards issued through the Ministry of Finance.
Do not worry, these are ONLY those cards that do NOT have the newer 14 digit number on them (and expiry date). The cards that have been issued since approximately 2006 are fine, as they are the most recent version of the cards with the 14 digit number as opposed to the former 12 digits and expiry dates on them (please check your card). The following is information from the Ministry of Finance website, including the two latest bulletins and the fillable form to apply.
In Ontario, there is a tax of 14.7 cents per litre on gasoline. First Nations individuals do not have to pay this tax if they buy gasoline:
